Oxytocin, dopamine and endorphins—all released while dancing tango— are all able to dilate the eyes. But at the natural levels, I think that most of us were in a comfortable “safe place,” which also works to constrict the pupils because of the calming vagus nerve. So, I would be excited to study my hypothesis that a paradoxical effect of meditative dance is to be calm and safe but *also* have positive arousal and attentiveness (dilated eyes and a different brain patterns) than others with a different purpose, such as tango as a hobby, a performance or just-for-fun. My experience has drastically changed since challenging myself not to just experience “time-going-fast fun” but rather, “time-suspending ecstasy” while dancing. Whatever the case, I will be looking into your eyes from time to time the next time we are dancing. :-)Tango Therapisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12548118004604256736noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8035244062520832583.post-12880532137774808982018-12-04T00:29:07.118-05:002018-12-04T00:29:07.118-05:00Mark, yes, I remember looking into your eyes right...Mark, yes, I remember looking into your eyes right that tanda and confirming that <br />your pupils are indeed dilated:) !
